Megan Moroney had a good reason for missing one of country music’s biggest nights.
In a message shared ahead of the 2026 ACM Awards, the singer explained that she was out of the country to serve as maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. The timing meant she could not attend the ceremony in person, despite being one of the most-nominated artists of the night.
Moroney entered the awards with nine nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. Her strong showing reflected a major year for the country artist, whose music has continued to gain attention across radio, streaming, and live audiences.
Although she was not in the room, Moroney still appeared during the broadcast through a prerecorded segment connected to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The appearance kept her involved in the event while she honored an important personal commitment.
Her absence was simple: a close friend’s wedding came first.
